Car Crashes into Big Rig in Fatal Accident on Highway 99 in Delano

DELANO, CA (May 7, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died following a fiery car accident on Highway 99 on May 9.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Avenue 24 shortly before 1:30 AM.

Based on a report, a Chevy Malibu was headed north on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it drifted off the roadway. Subsequently, it rear-ended a big rig that was parked on the shoulder. Consequently, the crash sent the Chevy up in flames.

As a result, fire crews found the driver of the Chevy dead inside. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification. The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the incident.

As of now, the cause of this accident on Highway 99 is still under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
