Fiery Accident on 15 Freeway in Temecula Involves Box Truck and Sedan

 
TEMECULA, CA (April 23, 2021) – One person died in a fiery accident on 15 Freeway in Temecula Thursday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on April 22, along the southbound lanes of the freeway near Rancho California Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a box truck and sedan collided in the middle of the freeway. The collision triggered a fire in the truck.
 
Murrieta Fire & Rescue and Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and knocked down the blaze just before 1 p.m.
 
Paramedics provided life-saving aid, but one person died at the scene. They took another patient to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
CHP officers shut down three of four southbound lanes to facilitate first responders and clear the wreckage. A SigAlert was issued at 12:55 p.m. for both sides of the freeway due to major traffic congestion stemming from the crash.
 
At this time, the fatal crash is under investigation.
