Person Riding GoCart Suffers Serious Injuries after Struck by SUV on Columbia Street in East Hemet

 
EAST HEMET, CA (December 27, 2022) – One person was airlifted after a GoCart accident at Columbia Street and Whittier Avenue in East Hemet late Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:16 p.m. on December 24. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Equinox struck the go-cart at the intersection.
 
The Riverside County Fire Department confirmed that the person riding the go-cart suffered serious injuries from the crash.
 
An air ambulance took the seriously injured patient to a hospital for treatment.
 
A ground ambulance transported another patient to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
