Driver Nealson Hanner Dies in Buttonwillow Rollover Car Crash

BUTTONWILLOW, CA (September 16, 2021) — A driver died in a rollover accident on the 5 Freeway near 7th Standard Road Tuesday morning, September 7.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck rear-ended a white Toyota Tacoma in the slow northbound lane. Per reports, the driver of the Toyota was driving at speeds of about 65 miles per hour.

The impact caused the Ram to swerve and rollover, hit a fence and crash into an agriculture field. CHP said the driver, identified as 32-year-old Nealson Carlos Hanner of Bakersfield, was not wearing a seatbelt.

As a result, Hanner ejected from the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

At this time, information as to what caused the crash or the condition and involvement of the Dodge Ram driver requires additional investigation. Therefore, anyone who holds insight into the accident should contact police immediately.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Nealson Hanner.
