Man Dies After Trimming Palm Trees on Newkirk Drive near Altura Drive

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 30, 2024) — A tree trimmer trapped by fallen palm fronds died on the job on Newkirk Drive near Altura Drive.
 
According to Riverside Fire Officials, the deadly incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Friday. Under unclear circumstances, a tree trimmer contracted by the homeowner was trapped approximately 30 feet up a palm tree. Subsequently, Riverside Fire paramedics responded to the residential property in the 2800 block of Newkirk Drive. Upon responding, they found the worker trapped under the weight of the palm fronds that had fallen onto him.
 
The department’s technical rescue team took measures to rescue the victim, albeit a complex procedure. Despite their efforts, the tree trimmer died at the same.
 
At this time, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name.
