Tractor Trailer Accident on Highway 25 in Santa Clara County; Driver Dead

 
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (April 30, 2024) – A woman was killed in an accident on Highway 25 in Santa Clara County Monday afternoon on April 29.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:45 p.m. at Bloomfield Avenue, just outside of Gilroy. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a blue Hyundai Elantra west on Bloomfield Avenue approaching the intersection with Highway 25.
 
At the same time, a 48-year-old man was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on Highway 25 approaching Bloomfield Avenue around 40 miles per hour.
 
The woman attempted to turn left onto the highway when she went directly into the freightliner. The front of the freightliner hit the Elantra.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the freightliner had minor injuries to his left hand.
 
Both were the only occupants in their vehicles.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
