Nancy Arzate Dies, Mason Joachim Detained in DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on 15 Freeway near Temecula Parkway

 
TEMECULA, CA (September 17, 2024) — Nancy Arzate died in a DUI hit-and-run accident on the 15 Freeway near Temecula Parkway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal hit-and-run happened Sunday night.
 
For an unknown reason, 33-year-old Nancy Arzate lost control of her 2011 Toyota Camry around 10:00 p.m. Subsequently, she struck a roadside object that caused her sedan to turn sideways before becoming stranded on the road. Subsequently, an oncoming motorist was able to dodge her vehicle, but 26-year-old Mason Michael Joachim could not. His 2003 Ford Edge plowed into her stationary Toyota and her, as well, at speeds of 70 mph.
 
Joachim did not pull over and fled on foot before the authorities arrived.
 
After the crash, Good Samaritans administered aid to Arzate, of Perris, before Riverside County Fire Department paramedics took over. However, she passed away 15 minutes later.
 
Sometime after, officers arrested Joachim on suspicion of second-degree murder, DUI and other charges, booking him into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Saturday night.
