PHELAN, CA (September 18, 2024) — Cynthia Moss died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Phelan Road near Buttemere Road.
 
The deadly hit-and-run accident happened around 7:40 p.m. on September 16. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in possibly a white 2009 to 2010 Kia Sportage struck a woman using a walker while traveling eastbound at an unknown speed. Investigators learned that the woman was crossing in a southerly direction within the eastbound lane, where the car hit her right side.
 
Due to the impact, the force hurled her onto the shoulder.
 
The suspect of the vehicle reportedly pulled over and removed and discarded her walker before fleeing.
 
Due to her injuries, Cynthia R. Moss, of Phelan, passed away. Now, the California Highway Patrol would like the public’s help in seeking the driver involved in this deadly crash.
