Motorcycle Rider Suffers Serious Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Pickup Truck on Grand Avenue in San Marcos

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (July 2, 2023) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Grand Avenue in San Marcos on June 15.
 
The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. at the intersection with West San Marcos Boulevard. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on West San Marcos Boulevard when a pickup truck ran a red signal arrow and turned in front of the motorcycle.
 
After hitting the victim, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene leaving the motorcyclist with serious injuries.
 
Paramedics took the motorcyclist to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Deputies described the pickup truck as a 1995-2000 Toyota Tacoma with an extended cab. It should have damage to the passenger side door as a result of the crash.
 
SDSD found surveillance footage from a nearby business that captured the suspect vehicle as it drove away from the scene.
