Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run at 79th Avenue and International Boulevard [Oakland, CA]

Two SUVs and Motorcycle Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run on 79th Avenue in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (July 11, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run crash at 79th Avenue and International Boulevard late Thursday evening.
 
The crash happened around 10:11 p.m. on July 8. According to Oakland police, the motorcyclist was riding westbound on International Boulevard at high speed. At the same time, a white Pontiac Vibe SUV was traveling southbound on 79th Avenue and stopped at a posted stop sign, then made a left turn onto International Boulevard.
 
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, collided with the Pontiac. The impact caused him to lose control and swerve into the eastbound lanes. He then collided with a Nissan Rogue and was ejected onto the pavement.
 
After the crash, the Pontiac’s driver fled the scene. The driver of the Nissan remained on scene and rendered assistance to the motorcyclist before authorities arrived.
 
Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he later died.
 
Authorities only identified the victim as a 33-year-old Oakland man.
