Motorcycle Rider Hospitalized in Crash on Highway 140 in Mariposa

 
MARIPOSA, CA (June 14, 2023) — A motorcycle rider suffered major injuries in an accident on Highway 140 near Buffalo Gulch Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened Wednesday evening. For an unknown reason, a motorcyclist from France who rented a 2023 Harley-Davidson lost control as he traveled eastbound down a steep winding section of the highway. Subsequently, the motorcycle crossed from the eastbound lane, over the double yellow lines, and into the westbound traffic. A driver of a westbound Ford pickup was unable to avoid the imminent crash and struck the motorcyclist.
 
Due to the impact, the unidentified motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and suffered major injuries.
 
Moments later, emergency personnel took the patient to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for immediate care.
 
Authorities did not say what led to the crash or if speed, distracted driving or impairment played a part. If anyone has more information, please call the authorities.
