SUV Strikes Motorcycle Police Sergeant on 6th Street in Coronado Causing Him Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

 
CORONADO, CA (July 5, 2023) – A motorcycle police sergeant was injured after he was struck by an SUV on 6th Street in Coronado Sunday morning on July 2.
 
The crash happened around 9:00 a.m. at Alameda Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV pulled out of an alley at the intersection when it collided with the Coronado police sergeant riding on the motorcycle. The motorcycle got stuck in the grill and sent the 25-year police veteran flying over the handlebars, onto the hood, and then hitting the windshield before he landed on the ground.
 
The officer was conscious and was able to radio for help.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and took the officer to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The driver and passenger of the SUV remained at the scene of the crash.
 
At this time, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
