Monyka McDarment Detained After Striking Officer During Traffic Stop on Lime Street at Mulberry Avenue

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (May 31, 2022) — Monyka McDarment faces charges after hitting an officer on Lime Street at Mulberry Avenue during a traffic stop.
 
According to police, the assault happened around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday after officers tried to pull over a black truck.
 
While police evaluated the driver of the truck to see if he had been drinking, the truck’s female passenger hopped into the driver’s seat. Subsequently, 41-year-old McDarment, the woman, did not listen to officers, drove from the scene after a short struggle and struck an officer on her way out.
 
As a result of the crash, the officer suffered minor injuries.
 
From there, police chased her for a brief time until authorities captured her after she tried running away from the abandoned truck.
 
At this time, officers have McDarment arrested at the Tulare County Pretrial Facility. Per reports, she faces charges of attempted murder on a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
