Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (May 17, 2022)Monique Contreraz was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Herndon Avenue and Milburn Avenue in Fresno, early Friday morning on May 13.
 
A 911 caller reported suspicious behavior around 1:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn near Cornelia Avenue and Golden State Boulevard. When police arrived, they found the partial remains of Contreraz.
 
After reviewing surveillance footage, the Fresno Police Department determined that the 29-year-old victim was pushing a shopping cart and had her dog on a leash when a gray or silver Chevrolet Silverado struck her at the intersection of Herndon and Millburn avenues.
 
After striking the victim, the driver did not stop, dragging the woman for approximately eight miles until the suspect left her in the parking lot of the hotel.
 
Authorities launched a manhunt, which spanned across county lines.
 
Around 3:00 p.m., police located the pickup truck near an apartment complex in the 5500 block of North Figarden Drive. They also identified the suspect as as 38-year-old Shawn Ginder of Fresno, but did not find him.
 
At this time, the suspect remains at large. An investigation is ongoing.
