Head-On Crash near Don Pedro Reservior Kills Four People

STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (June 4, 2024)Michael Keith, Donna Yarnal, Cindi Schuchterman and Janelle Hall died in a head-on crash near Don Pedro Reservoir in Stanislaus County Friday afternoon on May 31.

The fatal crash happened around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Bonds Flat Road and La Grange Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Keith was driving a 2020 Chevrolet 1500 pickup with Yarnal and Schuchterman as his passengers. He was heading northbound on Bonds Flats Road, passing another vehicle over the double yellow center line at approximately 100 mph or faster.

Meanwhile, Hall was driving a 2005 Toyota Highlander southbound on Bonds Flat Road at approximately 45 mph.

Because of the Chevrolet’s speed, both drivers were unable to brake or make an evasive maneuver in time. The vehicles then collided head-on.

Both vehicles had their front ends embedded into each other when they stopped moving after the crash, standing upright in part of a southbound lane and shoulder.

All occupants were wearing their seat belts, and the airbags deployed. However, all four died at the scene.

CHP officers identified Keith as a 56-year-old Stockton resident, Yarnal as a 66-year-old Modesto resident, Schuchterman as a 65-year-old Salida resident and Hall as a 33-year-old La Grange resident.

For Hall, a GoFundMe page was set up to support her family and cover burial expenses.

It is still unknown whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Further investigation is underway.

We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Michael Keith, Donna Yarnal, Cindi Schuchterman and Janelle Hall.
