Man in Wheelchair Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (November 28, 2022) — A man in a wheelchair died in a pedestrian accident on Long Beach Boulevard near 27th Street.
 
According to the Long Beach Police, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 12:42 a.m. Thursday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in a 2017 Toyota Camry heading northbound on Long Beach Boulevard struck a man in a wheelchair. Long Beach Police received a call soon after and found a man with critical injuries. Despite efforts to save him, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
As for the driver of the Toyota, he or she stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. It’s unclear if the pedestrian or the driver had the right of way at the time of the crash. However, police ruled out speed, distracted driving and drunk driving as possible factors.
