Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized after Head-On Accident on Highway 92 [San Mateo County, CA]

Fatal Head-On Accident on Highway 92 near 280 Freeway in San Mateo County

 
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2022) – A man was killed and a woman suffered injuries following a head-on accident on Highway 92, late Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on April 8 at about 4:30 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound red Honda Accord drifted into the westbound lanes.
 
Then, the Honda collided head-on with a westbound gray BMW near 280 Freeway.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the BMW driver, described as a man in his 30s, dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda, a woman in her 20s, sustained major injuries. Paramedics transported her to Stanford Medical Center for treatment.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
