High-Speed Crash with Cement Truck on 17th Street in Santa Ana Ends in Fatality

 
SANTA ANA, CA (July 23, 2023) – A man was killed and a woman was critical after a high-speed crash on 17th Street in Santa Ana Saturday morning on July 22.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 8:00 a.m. at 2400 East 17th Street near 55 Freeway. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, a sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided into a cement truck that was stopped in the left turn lane.
 
As a result, the male driver of the sedan died at the scene. His female passenger was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
 
It was unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
