Man Dies after Suspected DUI Driver Hits Him in Bixby Knolls

 
BIXBY KNOLLS, CA (April 10, 2023) – A man died and Jose Trujillo was arrested after a DUI hit-and-run crash in Bixby Knolls Friday afternoon on April 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:13 p.m. in the 700 block of 45th Street, just east of Atlantic Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the 42-year-old suspect from Long Beach was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 at a high rate of speed when he struck the man, pinning him between two vehicles. He then continued eastbound and struck another parked vehicle.
 
Paramedics rushed the unidentified victim to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
 
A short time later, officers located the vehicle and Trujillo near the area of Rose Avenue and 56th Street. They arrested the suspect on suspicion of murder, drunk driving causing bodily injury and hit and run resulting in death or injury.
 
Trujillo’s bail was set at $2 million.
