Man Dies after Struck by SUV while Changing Tire on Coffee Road in Bakersfield, Fog Possible Factor

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 27, 2022) – A man was hit and killed by an SUV on Coffee Road in Bakersfield Monday morning on December 26.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly before 6:45 a.m. just north of Brimhall Road. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a gardening truck with a trailer was parked on the side of the road with the man changing a tire. Minutes later, an SUV rear-ended the truck and hit the man.
 
The man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
A passenger of the gardening truck was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash. Officials said speed and foggy conditions may have been a factor.
 
An investigation is ongoing. Police asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-327-7111.
