BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 5, 2023) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on California Avenue at Real Road.
 
According to Bakersfield Police officers, the pedestrian accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a driver heading eastbound on California Avenue struck a man crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk.
 
Moments later, emergency personnel and officers arrived at the scene to perform life-saving efforts. However, these measures fell short, and the man passed away at the scene.
 
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with Bakersfield Police Department investigators.
 
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident, but an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.
