One Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway in Encinitas

 
ENCINITAS, CA (April 6, 2022) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near Santa Fe Drive on Monday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 11:50 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 46-year-old Solano Beach man was walking in the second lane from the left when an oncoming Jeep Grand Cherokee struck him.
 
As a result of the accident, the pedestrian died from his injuries.
 
Soon after, paramedics and authorities responded to the scene and interviewed the 50-year-old man from Los Angeles County operating the Jeep.
