Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Hit-and-Run Driver on Hesperian Boulevard in San Lorenzo

 
SAN LORENZO, CA (November 21, 2023) — A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Hesperian Boulevard near Bockman Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly hit-and-run happened Sunday morning. Under unclear circumstances, a 56-year-old man crossing Hesperian Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk was hit by a northbound black 2007 Ford Mustang. Rather than stopping, the 20-year-old Hayward man operating the Ford left the scene.
 
Soon after, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputies found the Mustang abandoned a short time later, half a mile from the crash site. Authorities learned that the driver left the Mustang, walked back to the accident and returned to the Mustang, where officers arrested him.
 
Following a brief investigation, police ruled out impairment as a possible factor.
 
At this time, they have the suspect booked at Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run causing death.
