Man Critically Injured in Motorcycle Accident on 15 Freeway near Railroad Canyon Road [Lake Elsinore, CA]

Motorcyclist Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries after Crash on 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (January 10, 2024) – A man suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle accident on 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore Monday afternoon on January 8.
 
The accident happened around 1:25 p.m. just north of Railroad Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 21-year-old Ventura man was riding his 2022 BMW S1000 motorcycle at a high rate of speed.
 
He was splitting lanes when he lost control and slammed into the rear of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. The impact ejected him off his bike into the back of a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.
 
He then came to rest in the second freeway lane, where approaching traffic was able to stop to avoid striking him.
 
Meanwhile, the motorcycle briefly continued its forward motion, swiping a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck before overturning in the freeway center median.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where the victim was listed in critical condition.
 
The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
