Head-On Crash on La Sierra Avenue in Lake Mathews Leaves Driver in Critical Condition

 
LAKE MATHEWS, CA (March 30, 2024) – A man was critically injured in a head-on accident on La Sierra Avenue in Lake Mathews Tuesday evening on March 26.
 
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m., less than a mile north of Cajalco Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Toyota Corolla on La Sierra when he allowed the car to drift to the left, over the double yellow lines, into northbound lanes.
 
A Tesla that was heading northbound encountered the sedan a split second later. The driver was unable to maneuver out of the Toyota’s path, and the two vehicles collided head-on.
 
First responders found the Toyota driver unresponsive, without a pulse and not breathing. Paramedics arrived soon after and rushed the man to a regional trauma center, where he was revived but still listed in critical condition.

Four juveniles in the Tesla suffered minor to major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
