Oakland Rear-End Accident on 580 Freeway Kills Driver Logan Moran

OAKLAND, CA (November 19, 2021) – A young man was killed in a rear-end car accident on 580 Freeway, east of 14th Street on Saturday, November 13.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified 19-year-old Los Angeles resident Logan Moran.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Moran was driving a Toyota Scion that hit the rear or a Ford Escape at about 6:45 a.m.

The Scion spun toward the right shoulder after the collision and hit the overcrossing cement abutment.

The CHP said Moran was speeding when he crashed.

Crews closed all westbound lanes of the freeway until around 7:10 a.m. while they cleared the wreckage.

It is unclear at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor. However, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
