Lochie Ferrier, 3 Passengers Dead after Experimental Plane Crash near Moss Beach Distillery

 
HALF MOON BAY, CA (January 19, 2024) – Authorities identified the pilot and the passengers killed in a small plane crash off the coast of Half Moon Bay, Sunday evening.
 
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the incident happened on January 14, shortly after 7:00 p.m. A Cozy Mark IV, described as an experimental, home-built craft, took off from Hayward and toured the bay before landing at Half Moon Bay at 5:04 p.m.
 
After two hours, the plane took off again and crashed near Moss Beach Distillery.
 
Witnesses claim that they saw the plane flying “erratically” and heard the engine sputter.
 
Responders pronounced the pilot and three passengers dead at the scene.
 
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified the pilot as Lochie Ferrier. His fiancée, identified as Cassidy Petit, and 27-year-old Emma Willmer-Shiles were identified as two of the three passengers.
 
The third passenger remains unidentified.
 
NTSB and The Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the fatal accident.
