Lisette Villasenor Killed, Jose Vargas Arrested in DUI Crash on Highway 395 [Hesperia, CA]

Drunken Driver Causes Crash on Highway 395 in Hesperia Killing Mother and Injuring Her 2 Children

 
HESPERIA, CA (May 14, 2023) – Lisette Villasenor died in a DUI Crash in Hesperia Thursday night on May 11.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:31 p.m. on Highway 395, just north of Poplar Street. According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, 41-year-old Jose Vargas of Adelanto was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe north on the highway. At the same time, Villasenor was driving a 2018 Toyota Prius south with her two children as passengers.
 
Vargas drove into oncoming traffic collided with the Prius.
 
As a result of the crash, Villasenor suffered major injuries and died at the hospital. She was 36 years old from Victorville.
 
Villasenor’s two children suffered moderate to major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Vargas was unharmed.
 
Deputies determined Vargas was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They booked him at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI.
 
According to friends, Lisette was on her way to the final day of cheer tryouts at Cali Ontario with her 6-year-old son Daniel and 12-year-old daughter Ashley when the crash occurred.
