Leroy Keller, Earlene Keller Hospitalized, Joshua Kohl Detained in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 108 near Coffill Road

 
LONG BARN, CA (July 19, 2022) — Leroy Keller and Earlene Keller were hospitalized in a multi-car crash on Highway 108 near Coffill Road on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle crash happened around 8:00 a.m. When a CHP officer in Long Barn spotted a stolen Ford F-350 truck, the officer began to follow it. Although, 49-year-old Joshua Micha Kohl accelerated away and began crossing the double yellow lines to pass up several vehicles.
 
In his attempt to pass another car on a curve, he crashed head-on into an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. As a result of the impact, the stolen Ford struck a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by 59-year-old Diana Barreno, and a 2018 Subaru Outback, driven by 59-year-old Charles Hester.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and brought 86-year-old Leroy Keller — the Chevrolet driver — and his 80-year-old wife — Earlene Keller — to Doctors Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Fortunately, the other drivers reported no injuries.
 
After the investigation, officers arrested Kohl and took him to the Dambacher Detention Center in Sonora, booking him on suspicion of vehicle theft and other charges.
 
At this time, investigators have ruled out DUI as a possible factor in the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm more details.
