Joseph Zavala Killed in Big Rig, Car Crash on Abbott Street near Harris Road

 
SALINAS, CA (May 4, 2023) — Joseph Zavala died in a semi-truck accident on Abbott Street near Harris Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 5:52 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, 20-year-old Zavala crashed his 2012 Honda Accord into a semi-truck’s trailer on southbound Abbott Street.
 
The semi-truck driver began to accelerate as the traffic light turned green. However, the Honda Accord struck the trailer at a high rate of speed, later closing Abbott Street in both directions.
 
The uninjured big rig driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police officers. Meanwhile, paramedics took Zavala, of Salinas, to a local hospital where he passed away.
