Jonathan Montoya Arrested, One Dead in Car Accident on Highway 101 [Carpinteria, CA]

Jonathan Montoya Arrested in Fatal Car Crash on Highway 101 near North Padaro Lane

 
CARPINTERIA, CA (March 24, 2022) — Officials arrested 21-year-old Jonathan Montoya of Oxnard after a fatal crash on Friday, March 18.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 101 southbound, near North Padaro Lane.
 
Public Information Officer Jonathan Gutierrez said a silver Nissan sedan moved southbound around 2:00 a.m. at an undetermined speed. Then it collided into an asphalt dump truck on the highway.
 
Gutierrez said that after the initial incident, the Nissan veered off the right shoulder. Then it crashed into two trees and came to rest near train tracks.
 
The driver of the Nissan sustained major injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
 
The passenger in the Nissan died at the scene.
 
Officials arrested Montoya, the driver of the Nissan, for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
 
The crash is under investigation.
