DUI Crash on Highway 108 in Jamestown Kills 40-Year-Old Man
JAMESTOWN, CA (May 31, 2023) – Jesus Rubio was killed in a DUI crash in Jamestown Sunday afternoon on May 28.
The fatal crash happened just after 5:00 p.m. on Highway 108 near the Chicken Ranch Casino construction. According to the CHP, Rubio was driving a 2009 GMC Yukon west on the highway at a high rate of speed. As he approached the roundabout, he made an unsafe turning movement to the right.
The Yukon then struck a metal light pole and rolled over multiple times through the traffic circle at the roundabout, ejecting Rubio from the vehicle.
Pieces of the Yukon that came off during the crash struck the left side of a 2019 Nissan Rogue, driven by 43-year-old Timothy Perez of Stockton, who had entered the roundabout at about 25 mph.
A medical helicopter took Rubio to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rubio was a 40-year-old Modesto resident, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
Meanwhile, Perez suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment.
CHP officials said Rubio was suspected to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Further investigation is underway.
We send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jesus Rubio.
