Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101 in Atascadero Injures Rider and Passenger
ATASCADERO, CA (June 5, 2023) – Jeffery Briggs and Lauren Nystrom were injured in a motorcycle accident in Atascadero Thursday evening on June 1.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 101 near the San Ramon Road exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, Briggs was driving a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on the highway with Nystrom as his passenger. He suffered a mechanical failure, throwing him and Nystrom.
Briggs, 37, was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with minor injuries.
Nystrom, a 25-year-old Templeton resident, suffered major head injury.
A friend of Briggs picked up the damaged motorcycle from the roadside.
Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
