12-Year-Old Boy Dies, Sister Suffers Injuries in South Gate Broadside Crash Involving Off-Duty Deputy

 
SOUTH GATE, CA (November 12, 2021) – Isaiah Suarez Rodriguez died and his sister Alexa suffered injuries in a broadside accident involving a deputy in South Gate.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on November 3, at the intersection of San Juan Avenue and Firestone Boulevard. According to reports, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was driving a pickup truck when he broadsided the car the siblings were riding. The deputy was off-duty at the time of the crash.

Responding paramedics rushed Isaiah to a hospital, where he later died. He was 12 years old.

Meanwhile, his 19-year-old sister Alexa suffered a concussion, broken bones and lacerations.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the siblings. The family of the two siblings have since collected more than $37,000 for burial expenses.

The off-deputy deputy was not identified.

The incident is still being investigated by the South Gate Police Department.
