Fatal Car Accident on Avenue J in Lancaster, Police Identify Frank Garcia

 
LANCASTER, CA (October 10, 2022)Frank Garcia died in a two-vehicle accident in Lancaster on Friday morning, October 7.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:05 a.m. on Avenue J near 140th Street East. According the CHP, Garcia was driving a 2004 Chevrolet westbound on Avenue J with two passengers and was approaching 140th Street East. A 2010 Nissan, driven by 43-year-old Kimberly Newell of Helendale, was stopped at a two-way stop sign at the intersection.
 
Newell failed to yield the right-of-way and entered the intersection. The left front of the Nissan struck Garcia’s car and caused it to overturn multiple times before coming to a rest on the eastbound shoulder of Avenue J.
 
As a result, Garcia suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 31 years old from Apple Valley, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
 
One of the Garcia’s passengers, 19-year-old Juan Rocha-Ureno of Apple Valley, sustained major head injuries and was taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center for treatment. The second passenger, 24-year-old Salvador Garcia Jr., was uninjured.
 
Newell had minor injuries, including swelling to the forehead.
 
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities asked witnesses to contact Officer S. Spann at 661-948-8541.
