Pedestrian Dies after Struck by El Segundo Police Vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway

 
EL SEGUNDO, CA (October 10, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway in El Segundo on Friday evening, October 7.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly before 9:55 p.m. just south of El Segundo Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, an El Segundo police officer was traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the roadway south of El Segundo Boulevard.
 
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities withheld his identity at this time.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
