Speeding Truck Crashes into Trees in Long Beach Killing Woman and Injuring Man

 
LONG BEACH, CA (February 6, 2023)Erica Mitchell was killed in a high-speed crash in Long Beach Saturday morning on February 4.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Atlantic Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 1995 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck was speeding southbound on Atlantic when it lost control and struck a curb, a fire hydrant and three trees.
 
Responding firefightes extricated both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle.

Mitchell, a 50-year-old Palmdale resident, was the passenger. She suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The male driver, a Long Beach resident, was rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.

The truck had two large containers of used cooking oil that spilled onto the street.
