67-Year-Old Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on Chaparral Street and Main Street

 
SALINAS, CA (May 13, 2022) — A 67-year-old woman died after a pedestrian accident on Chaparral Street on Wednesday, May 11.
 
According to the Salinas Police Department, at around 10 p.m., officers rushed to the area of North Main Street and Chaparral Street.
 
An investigation determined that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when A 2010 Dodge Charger struck her. She had walked across two lanes of traffic before turning around and walking back the way they came.
 
Medical personnel gave immediate medical aid to save the woman’s life but she died of sustained injuries.
 
The driver, an 18-year-old, remained at the scene and waited for the police.
 
Police said that during their initial investigation, it does not appear drugs or alcohol are a factor.
