Eight Injured, Driver Arrested after Car Accident on 10th Street and Market Street

 
OAKLAND, CA (October 18, 2021) — Several suffered injuries in a pursuit car crash on 10th Street and Market Street on Friday, October 15.
 
California Highway Patrol – Oakland said CHP Contra Costa started a police chase of a stolen Toyota at about 2:05 p.m., however, it was instantly discontinued.
 
An Oakland Police Department helicopter helped keep an eye on the car as it moved westbound on Highway 24. When it went through the tunnel, the pursuit resumed.
 
CHP said the Toyota made its way onto 980 Freeway and exited 27th Street. Officials said they saw the vehicle driving recklessly. Then it collided with an AC Transit bus with four occupants inside at 10th and Market streets.
 
All people inside the bus had minor injuries. Medics rushed four people in the Toyota between the ages of 18 and 21 to the hospital with moderate to major injuries.
 
Officials arrested the driver of the Toyota.
 
Authorities recovered two handguns and an assault rifle in the stolen car from Berkeley.
