2 Killed in Gravel Truck Crash on Highway 49 in Placer County

 
PLACER COUNTY, CA (December 18, 2023) — A driver and a passenger died in a gravel truck accident on Highway 49 near Old Foresthill Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly gravel truck accident happened around 7:15 a.m. Thursday. For what might have been due to a mechanical failure, the driver was unable to control the vehicle as it gone awry. Subsequently, the truck slammed into a steep dirt and rock embankment, causing several thousands of pounds of gravel to litter onto the roadway.
 
Due to the accident, the 68-year-old male driver from West Sacramento passed away. His passenger, who remains unidentified as well, suffered fatal injuries too.
 
At this time, traffic investigators are looking into this deadly crash and have ruled out alcohol and drugs.
