Driver Dead after Wrong-Way Crash on 5 Freeway near Salt Creek Road

 
LAKEHEAD, CA (October 4, 2021) — A driver died following a wrong-way accident on 5 Freeway on Wednesday, September 29.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 8:20 p.m., a driver moved southbound in the northbound lane. Then the vehicle collided into a guardrail near Salt Creek Road.
 
CHP said the driver had major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed the driver to Mercy Medical, where the victim later died.
 
The identity of the deceased is still not yet released pending confirmation and notification of loved ones.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal incident.
