Fatal Tow Truck Rollover Accident on Caliente Bodfish Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 15, 2023) — A driver died in a tow truck rollover crash on Caliente Bodfish Road in Kern River Valley.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal truck accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a 68-year-old man operating a flatbed tow truck with a Mazda on top of the flatbed lost control. As a result, the driver could not negotiate the roadway and the Kenworth truck overturned.
 
The Mazda, occupied by three passengers, was thrown from the flatbed. Soon after, CHP officers responded to the scene and found the motorist pinned inside the truck, later pronouncing him deceased at the scene.
 
As for the three adult passengers in the Mazda, paramedics brought them to Kern Medical for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Authorities do not believe impairment factored into this crash. However, an investigation should reveal more details.
