Driver Dies in Crash with Semi-Truck on Highway 395 in Olancha

 
OLANCHA, CA (March 28, 2022) — A driver died in an accident with a semi-truck on Highway 395 near Ash Creek Road on Wednesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened around 8:58 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 47-year-old driver operating a 2021 Hyundai Elantra crashed into a 2012 Freightliner on the east shoulder of the highway.
 
As a result of the impact, the Hyundai driver was ejected after having not worn his or her seat belt.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and confirmed the death of the driver at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old truck driver from Van Nuys was not injured, but the crash ruptured the driver’s diesel tank, causing a spill.
 
At this time, the ultimate cause of the accident demands further examination by investigators. Therefore, any witnesses with information to share should also contact the CHP.
