Driver Dies, 2 Hospitalized in Head-On Collision on San Juan Road in Aromas

 
AROMAS, CA (June 16, 2023) — A driver died, and two people were injured in a head-on crash on San Juan Road near Murphy Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the head-on collision happened Wednesday around 5:18 a.m. For an unknown reason, a 67-year-old man driving an eastbound 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van crossed the double yellow lines. As a result, the Chrysler van collided head-on with a westbound 2018 Chevrolet Express van shuttling nearly a dozen occupants.
 
As a result of the collision, the Chrysler driver, identified as a resident of Salinas, passed away. The Monterey County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the victim’s name.
 
In the Chevrolet Van, the driver suffered major injuries and one of the passengers complained of pain.
 
Authorities do not have information as to what led to the accident, but an investigation should clarify an explanation for the accident.
