Car Veers onto Shoulder of 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley Fatally Striking Construction Worker

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (April 14, 2022) – A construction worker was hit and killed by a car on 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on April 12, just east of Moreno Beach Drive. According to the CHP, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata was traveling at approximately 45 mph when it lost control and veered onto the shoulder of the freeway. It then drove into the dirt, where the Spectrum Construction Co. crew was working.
 
The sedan struck the worker, who had his back turned to traffic. The victim did not see the car coming.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived minutes later and pronounced the worker dead at the scene.
 
CHP officers questioned the motorist, but no arrest was made at this time.
 
There was no evidence the driver was impaired. However, the investigation is ongoing.
