At Least 1 Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 80 Freeway in Emeryville

 
EMERYVILLE, CA (August 17, 2023) — At least one person suffered major injuries in a multi-car accident on the 80 Freeway near Powell Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle collision happened late Monday night. For unknown reasons, several vehicles, including a big rig, crashed. The big rig reportedly plowed into the center divider lane, leaving at least one driver with significant injuries.
 
Upon responding, CHP officers found at least 20 gallons of gas that leaked out of the UPS big rig. Fortunately, no drainages were affected.
 
Following the accident, police closed four westbound lanes, so First Responders could respond and usher out the patients from the scene.
