2-Year-old Alfonso Vega Jr. Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck at Lost Lake Park

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2022) – Alfonso Vega Jr. was killed in a pedestrian accident in Fresno County on Saturday night.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:40 p.m. on April 9 at the Lost Lake Park. According to the California Highway Patrol, the toddler had walked out into the roadway when a Chevrolet Silverado struck him, as it was slowly driving through the park.
 
Following the crash, the male driver of the truck immediately pulled over and called 911 for help.
 
Sadly, Vega Jr. died at the scene. He was a 2-year-old Fresno resident, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
 
CHP officials said the toddler’s parents were loading their car to leave the park and did not realize he was on the roadway.
 
There is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. This fatality is under investigation.
