Agustin Martinez Charged, Passenger Dead in DUI, Single-Car Crash on 15 Freeway near California Oaks Road

 
MURRIETA, CA (August 21, 2023) — Agustin Martinez faces charges in Saturday’s deadly DUI car accident on the 15 Freeway near California Oaks Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the solo-car accident happened around 12:30 p.m. For DUI reasons, 23-year-old Agustin Martinez reportedly made an unsafe turning movement, causing the 2006 Honda Civic to lose control in the southbound lane. Subsequently, the Honda veered off the west edge of the freeway and struck a dirt embankment.
 
A 25-year-old passenger not wearing a seatbelt was thrown into the car’s rear seat and suffered fatal injuries. Officials have not released the victim’s name.
 
Minutes later, CHP and Murrieta Fire Department officials responded to the scene. They rushed Martinez to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries and arrested him for DUI.
 
Authorities have no other information on this crash; however, if anyone has news to share, please call the CHP.
