84-Year-Old Man Hospitalized in Bicycle Crash on Marin Avenue
BERKELEY, CA (December 13, 2021) — An 84-year-old man suffered a head injury in a bicycle accident on Marin Avenue near Los Angeles Avenue on Thursday.
According to authorities, the bicycle crash happened at The Fountain at The Circle around 8:50 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 45-year-old woman from Richmond struck the Berkeley man with her Honda Odyssey as the man entered the circle. In the investigation, the woman had already been in the traffic circle at the time the impact occurred.
Shortly after, paramedics reached the scene and brought the cyclist to Highland Hospital for treatment of head injuries. Meanwhile, the female driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, which ruled out DUI as a possible factor.
At this time, the victim’s condition remains unclear. However, we will update this report once we receive additional knowledge.
The risk of a bicycle accident increases when the bicyclist or a driver fails to pay attention. In busy roadways, verify that the road is clear before passing. Taking your time can lead to safer road conditions.
