82-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Midway Drive

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (December 30, 2021) — An 82-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Midway Drive near Valley Parkway Tuesday evening.
 
According to Escondido police, the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 6:49 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a northbound silver Kia Optima struck a pedestrian crossing the street.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the 82-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. Following the accident, police interviewed the 36-year-old Escondido man driving the Kia to garner more details.
 
At this time, officers have ruled out DUI as a possible explanation for the accident. However, authorities believe inclement weather may have precipitated the occurrence of the incident.
